So Today news came in as 2020 is a good year for the Australian band we all know and love - AC/DC. Yes, since 2014, AC/DC are releasing a new album on November 13th, 2020 called PWR/Up, So be sure to check it out and purchase it on Itunes or any other store near you once it’s released. However, that’s not all, according to The Pit, the first single from the album will drop on Wednesday right before the release at noon, eastern time which will be 9;00 am here in pacific time, so be sure to set your alarms, folks. NME stated that the album was Malcom Young’s vision. Angus Young states to NME; “This album was guided by Malcolm’s vision, he was there from the beginning, and he’s the guy that gave me a role in this band.” He also stated to NME that the latest upcoming release flows with the spirit of his late brother and co-founder, who sadly passed away after a long battle with dementia in 2017. So this latest news is what has been popping up while channel surfing and media, and that is the MTV Europe Music Awards. As some of you may or may not know that the winners were announced such as BTS and Lady Gaga.
Let’s start with BTS, as the South Korean pop group has won four leading awards, including Best Song for their song “Dynamite”. BTS had also won for Best Group and Best Fans. According to msn, BTS were overjoyed as member, Jungkook stated in a video message: "This means so much for us because we really wanted to enjoy this song with our fans in this difficult time." Switching gears, let’s talk about Lady Gaga winning Best Artist. Gaga went into the event with the most nominations, beating out Harry Styles, Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, and Dua Lipa. Even Though she lost out to Best Video which went to DJ Khaled for “Popstar”, Gaga did take home the Best Artist prize. In addition, Cardi B had taken home the best Hip Hop award. So this latest story was no surprise to us all because of the Coronavirus pandemic, and that is Kaboo San Diego being postponed until next year.
So as we all know, there is a Multi-genre music and arts festival that is held every year in California at Petco Park back in September. Unfortunately, because of the pandemic, it had to be postponed until 2021. However, pass holders will be given an email that outlines a special offering to hold onto the passes until 2021 or be offered a refund. According to the San Diego Union Tribune, Kaboo’s producers seemed reluctant to pull the plug on this year’s event. Their reluctance came through despite not announcing any performers for the 2020 edition at Petco Park. For those who don’t know what the Kaboo festival is, The Kaboo festival is a multi-genre music and arts festival in California that features some of the biggest names in music, stand-up comedy and cuisine. It would have been the first time trading the beach vibe to an urban city vibe. Kaboo would have taken place for the first time this year at Petco Park until it got postponed. Rob Costellon and Oscar Toledo are the founders of Wiretap Records that has mainly focused on Punk Rock since 2014. According to Castellon reporting in LA Weekly, he stated that: “When I started it, I didn’t think it would last that long,” He also continued: “At the time I was working for KROQ here in L.A., in sales and marketing. While I was enjoying what I was doing, working in music, I still felt like I was out of touch with independent music. Both Oscar and I grew up going to punk rock shows. So I told my wife I wanted to put out a 7”, work with some local bands. I put out two releases and they did well, which convinced me to keep going. Here we are still, 75 releases later.” Moreover, Wiretap Records have been working closely with Latin independent artists as the first band they had signed was a band called 3LH from Garden Grove. According to Rollingstone, after the band broke up a year ago followed by a gig, Toto is making a comeback via a reunion with a revised line up. Moreover, the new Toto Line up are planning a new world tour known as The Dogz of Oz tour where they are promising to play all the hits, deep cuts and solo music. The preview of the tour is livestreaming November 21st, and tickets are already on sale,so be sure to get your ticket soon before they sell out. Also, the concert is a one night only event, so defintely be sure not to miss out. In 2021, Steve Lukather and Joseph Williams will be releasing solo albums featuring one another on some of the songs featured, so stay tuned for that. Toto formed in Los Angeles back in 1977. Some big names like Miranda Lambert, Gabby Barrett, Luke Combs, and many more will be joining in on celebrating the genre and some fashion taste. Rollingstone stated that Barrett is twice-nominated this year, and will be joined by Charlie Puth for a rendition of her breakout hit while Lambert is going to be performing “Settling Down” along with many more performances by stars such as The Rascal Flatts, Ashley McBryde, and more. Moreover, he started a new routine by picking up his guitar right after breakfast. Page states: “The place has a garden, and you don’t feel quite so under home arrest, but we’ve been very, very, very cautious about who we see and who we don’t see, and it’s been just a handful of people in the last six, seven months.” Bigworldtale states that Page was reflecting on his life a decade ago which can now be read in his self-titled autobiography book that is told mainly in photography form.
