The music industry is hoping to make a comeback since shutting down 18 months ago due to the pandemic.

According to wired.com, the Save Our Stages bill was passed back in December of 2020 as a second round of pandemic relief, and has offered a lifeline. However, even when it’s safe again to hold live shows, the underlying driver of the music industry’s deep inequity will still continue. Moreover, the streaming of music platforms and ticket sales has now shifted over to tech giants, leading to the effect on the music industry revenue, especially with independent artists.

Live concerts, a crucial space for independent artists, are at a risk of going out of business due to Covid. Moreover, at risk for Music industry giants to buy them out. However, there is a silver lining of all this because of the pandemic. There have been more independent bands, artists, and music today than ever before where distribution is more simplified nowadays, helping those independent artists live and make their dreams happen.

Today.com stated that during her interview with Ellen DeGeneres, the 30-year-old went more into depth about the lack of diversity in country music and stated that the industry should be more inclusive, creating opportunities for black men and women. Moreover, she also stated that she has an important role to play in the process.

Amazon Music Launches New Shopping Experience

Yes, Amazon music is launching a whole new shopping experience to make it much easier for fans to help find merch from their favorite artist.

According to businesswire.com, Amazon recently announced about artist merchandise via their mobile app. The artist merchandise will now appear in the Amazon music app on participating artists’ pages, side-by-side with their songs, albums, live streams, and music videos. Moreover, Amazon Music is also debuting exclusive merchandise collections from various artists which includes a new line of apparel that was developed by Selena Gomez to celebrate her upcoming Spanish-language EP, “REVELACION”.

Selena Gomez and DJ Snake Team Up For A New Single

Anyways, this latest news comes from the popular dual, Selena Gomez and DJ Snake as they are collaborating together for a second time to create a new single called “Selfish Love”.

According to Rollingstone, “Selfish Love” is accompanied by a video that was directed by award-winning filmmaker, Rodrigo Saavedra where it depicts Gomez operating a colorful, yet surreal hair salon.

DJ Snake made this statement to Rollingstone:

“I wanted to make music for the world and mix all my favorite influences of Afro Beat, Latin music, something that felt grounded and organic. Selena and I had been talking and after ‘Taki Taki’ we had to give the world another round with fresh summer vibes. Something that made it feel like summer the first time you heard it. ‘Selfish Love’ came very naturally for us and I think it’s the perfect evolution for our history together.”

San Diego Comic Con Cancelled for In Person

This latest news is so sudden as we all know, we are not quite through the woods of the coronavirus pandemic yet as San Diego Comic Con for this year in 2021 has cancelled their in person event and will remain virtual.

A statement came out from the official Comic Con website saying that even though people are getting vaccinated for Covid-19, it is still too early to safely hold an in-person event of the magnitude of Comic Con. Despite the tough decision, Comic Con will remain virtual and will postpone the in-person event until the dates of 2022.

Although Comic Con has gone virtual for the second year in the row, it is shorter as it only lasts three days according to comicbook.com. However, there is a silver lining among all this as there are plans in the works for an in-person three day Comic Con later this year around November, so stay tuned for that.

Daft Punk Are Calling it Quits

This latest news has come to a huge surprise to many as the electronic duo, Daft Punk, have broken up after 28 years.

According to Rollingstone, the group had announced their decision via an eight minute sequence that was dubbed, “Epilogue” which was taken from the 2006 film, “Electroma”. It had two robots that represent the band members, Guy Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter, where they venture out into a desert and one gets destroyed.

Long time publicist, Kathryn Frazier, according to Billboard.com, confirmed that the group had broken up, and the video was their statement to an end of a nearly three-decade career of collaboration.

Looking back, Daft punk were known for their hits like “Around the World”. “One More Time”, and “Da Funk”. Moreover, along with their No. 2 Grammy-Winning 2013 smash, “Get Lucky”.

Casey Bishop Blows American Idol Judges Away With Some Covers

This latest news is quite amazing coming from a 15-year-old girl named Casey Bishop as she had won the hearts of American Idol judges by covering some Motley Crue and Sarah Vaughan.

According to Billboard.com, this Florida native had named off classics that she enjoyed listening to like Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sublime and some blues music including Ella Fitzgerald. She even admitted to the judges that she did not have any background or a history of. The episode aired in late February as she performed her rendition of Motley Crue’s “Livewire”. Moreover, she raised the bar by performing Sarah Vaughan’s “My Funny Valentine”.

The judges were mind blown with her renditions alone and even compared her to runner up, Alejandro Arana, on season 17 of American Idol. Along with a unanimous “Yes” from the judges, Bishop is on her way to the Hollywood rounds.

Bieber is taking the stage at 2021 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards

According to radio.com, Bieber is set to headline the 2021 Kids Choice Awards on March 13th, hosted by Saturday Night Live’s Kenan Thompson. Bieber will be performing his charity collaboration, “Intentions” with Migos’ Quavo along with his latest hit, “Anyone”

Businesswire.com states that with over a dozen Kids Choice Award wins, Bieber is leading with five nominations this year, three in the Favorite Music Collaboration category consisting of “Holy” with Chance the Rapper, “Lonely” with Benny Blanco and “Stuck With U” featuring Ariana Grande. He is also nominated for Favorite Song and Favorite Male Artist. Fans are currently casting their votes.

LEGO Vidiyo music video creator launches

This latest news is quite kid friendly as LEGO has created a new DIY music video maker aimed for children between the ages of seven to ten.

According to geeky-gadgets.com, the platform launched on March 1st, and the video creator has been built in partnership with Universal Music Group. Moreover, it is expected to offer a library of around 50 tracks by the end of 2021 for children to use.

Theverge.com stated that the users will have to select the app to download and select a song. However, instead of selecting a filter and dancing around, children will instead scan a Lego mini figure to star in the video along with any Lego “Beatbit” tiles.
