So this latest news is unfortunate as the 2021 Grammys that was originally going to premiere on January 31st have been postponed to a later date due to the surging cases of the coronavirus.
According to CNN, the awards have been postponed to a later date which is Sunday, March 14th. The event was set to take place in the Staples Center in Los Angeles, but due to the surging cases of COVID-19 and ICUs reaching bed capacity along with a stay-at-home order had led to the decision of postponing the Grammys.
The statement from CNN issued this; "Nothing is more important than the health and safety of those in our music community and the hundreds of people who work tirelessly on producing the show."
CNBC stated that plans for this year’s Grammys are already quite different than the previous due to the pandemic. There will be no audience for the show where only presenters and performers will be on-site for the show. Anyways, keep your eyes peeled as the Grammys will premiere in March.
Until then, stay healthy, stay awesome, and stay at home. Peace out!
